how it works
Teams complete fun and challenging activities, then document them via the Questival app (available soon for iPhone & Android). Teams compete in a number of categories (we’ll release that info soon).
10% of profits from the event goes to WHOlives.org. Our goal is to purchase a Village Drill from WHOlives.
Our team of judges will be monitoring teams throughout the race. They’ll be looking for competitors who exemplify Cotopaxi’s core values of People, Innovation, & Adventure. Winning teams will receive humanitarian trips (grand prize), gear, and more!

Anybody can register for the Questival. Minors need permission/waiver signed by legal guardian.
Social media is a big component in Questival. Some tasks will require you to utilize your social media network, so make sure someone on your team has followers!
Don't have a team? Don't worry! You can sign up by yourself and get your friends involved later. We can even help you find people interested in the raceSign up by myself for now Register your team
Teams receive a list of challenges 24 hours before the race. Challenges are assigned points according to our super-subjective, super-top-secret Llamalicious Algorithm. (It’s almost as complicated cool as Google’s.) Choose challenges from 8 different categories, including Hiking, Service, Camping, Eating, and Social Media-ing. Want to take away a prize? Impress us by staying true to our core values: People, Innovation, & Adventure.

Teams complete challenges for 24 hrs. and document them via the Questival app. Some posts require social media, so make sure you have a smartphone on hand. Don’t forget to keep your phone charged!
At Cotopaxi, we believe the best trips happen when you immerse yourself in a culture. All round-trip travel for the winning team will be provided by Cotopaxi. The trips provided will be adventure trips. We’ll provide the flights and a daily stipend. We’ll also hook you up with one of our nonprofit partners so you can spend a day of service with them. Other than that, what you do on your trip and how you do it is up to you! Winners will leave on their trips within 6 weeks of the Questival and should prepare valid passports.
Questival is a non-linear outdoor adventure race, where teams complete challenges to earn points & impress our judges. Winning teams receive humanitarian trips (grand prize), cash, and gear. Questival contains two parts: an adventure challenge (Quest, $50 per-person registration) and a concert (Fest, free) at the end of the race.
Teams compete for 24 hrs. The app shuts down for sleep time from 1-4 am. Plan on being very, very tired when you arrive at the finish line.
Our team of judges consists of 1) outdoorspeople, 2) innovators in business, technology, art, and film, and 3) humanitarians and environmental advocates. We’ll monitor teams’ progress throughout the race and determine winning teams in each category based on judges’ appraisal of your team’s adherence to Cotopaxi’s core values: People, Innovation, and Adventure.
We'll be providing more information on starting locations soon.
Anyone can register for the Quest. Participants younger than 18 must submit a waiver signed by their parent or guardian. Participants younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The Fest is open to all ages.
Teams receive a list of challenges 24 hours before the race. Choose challenges from 8 different categories, including Hiking, Service, Camping, Eating, and Social Media-ing. Teams should strategize on the best way to win in the category they select.
Teams complete challenges and document them via the Questival app (available soon for iPhone & Android). Where possible, teams should try to picture at least one Questival pack in the photograph.
Because the Quest is basically a huge choose-your-own adventure, you decide which challenges to complete and where. Quest challenges are distributed across the city in which the event takes place. Strategic tactical operations are highly encouraged.
Teams win by completing tasks and competing in any of 12 categories. We’ll be releasing the prize categories soon.
Teams of 2 - 5 can compete. Teams are encouraged to stay together.
Because the Questival is an outdoor challenge, you’ll want to prepare for inclement weather. You’ll want sturdy shoes, a good jacket, probably some food, and your Cotopaxi backpack. Sleeping arrangements are up to you, but points will be awarded for ruggedness. Camping in any of its forms is better than crashing on your roommate’s couch. Sleeping under the stars gets you serious street cred.
If you’ve read this straight through, this is a paragraph you’ve already read. If you want to read it again, you can.
Questival is built for anyone. Any person in good physical condition will be able to compete. Scrappiness is more important than brawn, speed, or experience. Also, you are awesome.
Check-in info will be sent to you by Oct. 23. Quest challenges will be emailed 24 hours before the race begins. You will receive your Cotopaxi bag and other race-specific information at check-in.
Yes. The concert is open to everyone. It is free and does not require registration.
